Fourth Batch of CICL undergo Leadership Journey Retreat-Seminar

On February 8 to 9, 2019, forty-seven (47) Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL) from the National Training School for Boys (NTSB) in Tanay, Rizal, underwent the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Leadership Journey (NCALJ) Retreat-Seminar. The NCALJ is a Leadership Program grounded on Ninoy and Cory’s own brand of spiritual-leadership.

The participants spent two days in reflection and prayer, recalling important moments in their lives as individuals, as well as their personal experiences of love and care from the people around them. The CICL were also given numerous opportunities to share their stories and insights with one another in their respective sharing groups. NCAF Program Director, John Paulo Reyes, facilitated the Leadership Journey with the use of music and videos, as well.

The participants listened to the testimony of full-time Campus Missionary and Youth Formator, Zildjian Pigao. She shared about her own experiences but also the transforming and hope-giving love of God. She encouraged the CICL to allow themselves to be changed by their own experiences of grace and care – to stay committed to their path of change through discipline and good deeds.

The Journey ended with the participants sharing their insights and learnings in plenary and some words of thanks for the NCAF and NTSB Team. One participant said, “Ang napulot ko na aral ay pagpapatawad sa kapwa at natutunan ko rin na humingi ng sorry sa mga taong nagawan ko ng mali (I lessons I picked up were to forgive my neighbor and to ask for forgiveness to the people I have wronged).” Another participant expressed his thanks, saying, “Nagpapasalamat kami sa inyo kasi nandiyan kayo. Inilaan ninyo sa amin ang lahat ng oras niyo at hindi kayo nalungkot [para] sa amin. Maraming salamat sa inyo (We are thankful because you all are here for us. You set aside all your time for us and didn’t pity us. Thank you to all of you).”
