Loving Social Service in a Time of Pandemic

The dark cloud of a continuing COVID-19 pandemic has hampered life as the world once knew it. But the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Foundation is blessed to be able to offer what might be glimmers of hope to those who serve in social work amidst the danger being in the line of work nowadays means.

In two separate sessions held on March 25 and April 22, around 40 Social Workers, House Parents and Staff of Haven for the Elderly in Tanay, Rizal partook of the NCA Leadership Journey – Online Edition. With the able facilitation of NCAF Program Director Mr. Jampao Reyes, these participants were reintroduced to the imperative reflection process, in order to make sense of the events occurring in life today. Through Ninoy and Cory’s process of prayer, discernment and self-sacrifice, their hearts and minds were renewed to their mission at hand: to provide loving service even in dark times such as these.

As one participant puts it: “Masarap sa pakiramdam na makadalo sa isang seminar na gaya nito. Sana ay mas maraming beses pa na maulit ang ganitong session.” NCAF is truly grateful to have the opportunity to bring the important, but oft forgotten gift of reflection directed towards hope.
