Module 2 of the Online NCA Leadership Journey Commences

There is no denying it – the way of life brought about by the continuous threat of COVID-19 dubbed the “new normal” is reality, and will be so for a very long time. The Ninoy and Cory Aquino Foundation’s flagship Journey adjusts as well: moving from a program that instills a conscious mindfulness of today’s situation towards one that processes a realignment of one’s mission in life. Anchored, as always, by Sen. Ninoy and Pres. Cory’s value for Prayer, Self-Sacrifice and Discernment, we usher in this new normal with renewed hope, virtue and purpose.

Twenty-five Basic Ecclesiastical Community (BEC) leaders of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Novaliches took these very steps. First, through undergoing the initial module of the Online Journey on the 29th of August, the participants were invited to look back at imperative portions in the self-actualizing journey of the last year and a half. On September 5, they were brought into a safe (online) space for a reinvigoration of their BEC vocations. A most storied group of servant leaders from both the religious and lay arms of their Diocese shared inspiring mission narratives of adjustments made to fit the current social situations. One participant had a particularly admirable story to tell of how her Church work transformed from being something merely clerical to that of much on-the-ground action.

The end of the two modules for these lay church leaders marked a new hope-filled beginning for their mission stories. A consensus was reached that, even when it is difficult, all things must be done with love. A world where difficulties may peak every day is so much more in need of dutiful service and heartfelt vocation. The new normal is in need of souls ready to serve with so much more self-giving than before, and these leaders take that fact to heart.
