NCAF gives Journey Program to 2nd batch of BJMP Officers and Staff

On January 26 to 27, 2019, at the Splash Mountain Resort and Hotel, at Los Banos, Laguna, forty (40) officers and staff from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) underwent the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Leadership Journey Program. The participants spent two days in restful reflection and prayer.

Based on Ninoy and Cory Aquino’s own brand of spiritual-leadership, the participants explore their “why’s” for serving in BJMP and the people who continue to inspire and motivate them in their work. Led by NCAF Program Director, Jampao Reyes, the participants were also given modules on “connecting the dots”, a remembering of one’s past and significant moments in one’s life, and “transcendent values”, values that allow one to focus more on the needs of the others, more than the self.

The participants listened to the talk of Chief Xavier Solda of the Community Relations Service Office, BJMP. He discussed with them issues that he too has faced, working in the justice system, but also the ways he was able to overcome these challenges and continue living out his mission as a servant-leader.

The participants were also given numerous opportunities to break out into groups and share with one another their life experiences and reflections on the different modules. The groups were also avenues for them to ask for forgiveness for any grievances they may have caused and thank their co-workers for good deeds they have experienced through them. Participants thanked BJMP Admin and NCAF for what they shared was a fruitful and energizing experience.
