PJPS scholars undergo the Leadership Journey program

LJ Batch25Twenty (20) scholars of the Philippine Jesuit Prison Service underwent the Ninoy and Cory Leadership Journey held on May 19-21, 2017 at the Poveda House of Prayer in Tagaytay City.

Comprising this 25th batch of the Journey program for college/student leaders are children of inmates from the National Bilibid Prison, the Correctional Institute for Women and local jails.

During the 3-day session, the participants shared their personal experiences and rediscovered faith and hope from inspiring guest speakers such as Mr. Anthony Luto, a former PJPS scholar who is now a successful architect, and Mr. Martin Perfecto, currently the Deputy Director for Reformation at the Bureau of Corrections.

At the end of the program, the scholars expressed their deep gratitude for being given the opportunity to participate in what they described as an awesome, unique, inspiring, meaningful and unforgettable experience where they felt the presence and love of God.

The Philippine Jesuit Prison Service Foundation, Inc. (PJPS) is a non-stock, non-profit organization that advocates a more humane approach to the rehabilitation of incarcerated individuals and their families. Since its inception in 1994, in coordination with the Bureau of Corrections personnel and with the help of generous benefactors and volunteers, PJPS has continuously provided various programs to help alleviate the conditions of incarcerated individuals and their families. In its commitment to rebuild lives and rekindle hope, PJPS has been providing inmates not only with pastoral care but also social services and medical assistance, scholarships for their children, and livelihood program to help them re-integrate to mainstream society.
