On October 22 and 23 2019, 41 employees of the ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation went through the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Leadership Journey (NCALJ). In line with their efforts in employee development and morale boosting, the ALKFI sought the assistance of the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Foundation (NCAF), and went through two days of relaxation, introspection and reflection. The participants underwent modules that placed focus on Ninoy and Cory’s brand of spiritual leadership centered in prayer, discernment and self-sacrifice.

The two days’ activities kicked off with opening remarks by. Ms. Jen Santos, Program Director of Bantay Kalikasan. Mr. Jampao Reyes, program director of NCAF, then took the helm, beginning with activities wherein the participants were given the chance to describe their current life. Many were already engrossed in sharing their current life stories in relation with their body of work. This showed evidently the devotion of the participants to what they do. To further deepen the experience of catharsis, the participants were asked to look back at their lives and identify key moments where they felt cared for, inspired, and loved. The participants were also asked to reflect on high and low moments as employees of the foundation, and invited to remember the key individuals who motivated them to continue their work.

Many participants resounded with his call to serve the less fortunate not through mere assistance but through a sharing of purpose and end goal of uplifting those whose lives are unduly mired in the muck of poverty. The two-day program concluded on a high note, with a commitment activity and rousing closing remarks given by Ms. Susan Bautista-Afan, the managing director of the ALKFI with hope all abounding for more partnerships between ALKFI and NCAF in the future.
