In the looming shadow of the COVID-19 Pandemic our world is grappling with, the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Foundation, aided by technological advances in communications, has found a way to bring the NCA Leadership Journey to our valued partner-institutions. Through a new program especially designed for these difficult times, Program Director Mr. Jampao Reyes has heralded a new “virtual” Journey to give hope, raise spirits and call to action- in the spirit of Ninoy and Cory’s value for Prayer, Discernment and Self-Sacrifice.

Last July 16, around fifty (50) educators from a beloved partner institution- Dr. Yanga’s Colleges Inc., in Bocaue, Bulacan, were first to partake of this Online Journey for the “New Normal.” The half-day morning session kicked off with participants converging via the teleconferencing app, Zoom, from the comfort of their own homes. Throughout the program, which began with opening remarks from Mr. Kel Yanga, President of DYCI, a sense of camaraderie and friendship was very much palpable. For at least 3 hours, the requirement of distance between participants was little of an issue. They learned from their own stories, and each others’ experiences, all forming bonds of hope and acceptance of grace amidst difficulty.

One participant could not have better worded out the parting sentiments of the group- that through the new Online Journey, they “realized in a profound way, that amidst all things, whether good or bad, God remains with us and in us.”
