BJMP-PNPAAA, NCR Chapter Alumni Undergo the NCAF Leadership Journey

On June 29 to 30, 2019, at Punta de Fabian Resort in Baras, Rizal, thirty-four (34) alumni from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Philippine National – Police Academy Alumni Association, NCR (BJMP-PNPAAA NCR) underwent the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Leadership Journey (NCALJ). Several of the participants were active jail wardens throughout NCR, headed by Manila City Jail Warden, Superintendent Randel Latoza.

The participants had two (2) days to rest, refresh, and reflect. Led by NCAF Program Director, John Paolo “Jampao” Reyes, the participants looked back at key experiences in their journey as BJMP leaders and identified moments of care and service that they themselves received. They also recalled prominent people in their lives whom inspired them to pursue a career in BJMP and served as models of service. The participants were divided into groups and given opportunities to share their life-stories with one another.

Participants had the chance to listen to BJMP Chief Superintendent Allan Iral’s personal testimony. He shared with them his own experiences working to become a civil servant and his motivations for continuing the work in BJMP. He emphasized the importance of working with a sense of mission and that, more than for praise and personal accomplishments, BJMP work is good work for good people.

Ending the program, each participant was given a chance to write his or her commitment to the BJMP-PNPAAA, NCR chapter. They committed themselves to uphold its values and serve the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) within their care with fairness and compassion.
