Caritas Novaliches Scholars undergo the NCA Leadership Journey Recollection

On April 20, 2018, twenty-one (21) scholars of Caritas Novaliches underwent the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Leadership Journey (NCALJ) Recollection. Organized by Assisi Foundation’s Hapag Asa Integrated Nutrition Program, the scholars underwent the NCALJ Recollection as a means to mentally and spiritually prepare for their week-long immersion in the slums of Payatas in Quezon City. They will be conducting feeding programs for seven days, interacting especially with the kids of the community.

The recollection invited the scholars to look at their own lives and recount moments of love and care they’ve received from the people around them – their family, relatives, teachers, and friends. They also learned about transcendent values, how a truly compassionate person is able to live more than for one’s own personal gain but for the benefit and welfare of the people around them. Ultimately, the recollection was a time for the scholars to reflect on the meaning of their immersion sessions, in the hope that they are able to treat the experience not only as a required activity, but as a real opportunity to serve and give joy to the kids and community members of Payatas.
