NBP ALS class officers undergo Leadership Journey

ALS groupForty (40) class officers from the various education units inside the New Bilibid Prison medium security camp in Muntinlupa City underwent the Leadership Journey Recollection of the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Foundation last September 26, 2017.

The class officers were from the University of Perpetual Help Alternative Learning System (ALS) which offers elementary, high school, and college education as well as vocational courses to the medium security camp inmates.

Organized in partnership with the Philippine Jesuit Prison Service (PJPS), the recollection provided the participants some time to reflect on their life stories and learn about servant leadership.  A module on integrity was given by NCAF Program Director John Paulo Reyes, urging them to emulate the characteristics of a good leader such as being good at all times, leading people by example, and having the courage to do what is right even at the risk of being unpopular.

The recollection ended on a high note with an activity reminding them of the care and love they receive from God, their loved ones and fellow students.  One participant shared that the recollection gave him a renewed sense of hope while another realized that it is never too late to change one’s life and become closer to God.
