Ateneo Senior High School student leaders undergo Leadership Journey

batch-24On October 23 to 25, 2016, twenty-eight (28) student-leaders became the first batch to undergo the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Leadership Journey for Ateneo Senior High School. The participants spent three (3) days in St. Scholastica’s Center of Spirituality in Tagaytay City to experience NCAF’s unique seminar-retreat on spiritual-leadership, inspired by Ninoy and Cory Aquino’s own brand of leadership.

The participants were treated to a number of engaging and reflective activities, as well as talks from various speakers such as Ken Abante, Ateneo College valedictorian of batch 2012 and the Chief of Staff of the Department of Finance Strategy, Economics, and Results Group, who talked about his personal experiences as a leader and choosing the road less traveled; NCAF Executive Director, Rapa Lopa, who shared his personal accounts with the late President Cory Aquino and the work that can still be done for the country; and Kesz Valdez, 17-year old recipient of the International Children’s Peace Prize Award in 2012, who talked about his work with street children and his fight for the rights of children all over the country.

Throughout the Journey, the participants were invited to reflect and pray, as well as look back into their own stories and remember the key moments in their lives that have inspired them to be leaders – loving and serving others.

Riza Franchesca Regala, one of the participants, shared, “You’re able to see God through the difficult moments in your life, but it is in those moments that I realize how much He loves me and cares for me. And because of these blessings, I am inspired to repay His goodness by serving others.”

Raymond Rowell Reyes, another participant, added, “Our country isn’t really hopeless. We are called to have a renewed purpose in people’s lives, and the best way we can reciprocate love is through service.”
